Sindh Local Government Minister Saeed Ghani has announced that the 17th death anniversary of Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto would be solemnly observed on December 27 with utmost respect, continuing the tradition upheld in previous years.
He made this statement on Saturday while presiding over a Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Karachi Division meeting. Ghani chaired the meeting in his capacity as the PPP Karachi Division president.
The meeting discussed the arrangements for functions and a public meeting to be held at Garhi Khuda Bux to commemorate Benazir Bhutto's death anniversary.
The local government minister informed the participants that hundreds of thousands of PPP workers from Karachi and across the country would gather at Garhi Khuda Bux to attend public meetings and other events. He emphasised that PPP office-bearers and workers from all districts, provincial assembly constituencies, city areas, and wards in Karachi would be mobilised for these events.
He also stated that the leadership of the PPP’s subsidiary bodies, party legislators, and their workers would participate in the commemorative activities.
Ghani mentioned that motorcades comprising passenger buses, coaches, and other vehicles would depart from Karachi on December 25 to mobilise the city’s PPP workers for the death anniversary programmes.
Speaking on the occasion, Sindh PPP General Secretary and Special Assistant to the Sindh Chief Minister Syed Waqar Mehdi said a massive number of PPP activists would converge at Garhi Khuda Bux to pay homage to their martyred leader.
