ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Cricket Board’s (PCB) 76th BoG is to meet in Islamabad on December 18 to discuss the hybrid model agreed upon for the February 2025 Champions Trophy to be hosted by Pakistan.

A well-informed source confirmed to The News that PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi will update Board of Governor members on the hybrid model agreed upon by the stakeholders for the Champions Trophy.

Pakistan will retain the hosting rights, while all matches involving India will be played at a neutral venue (Dubai).

Even if Pakistan make it to the Champions Trophy final against India, it will be staged in Dubai.

“All the details on the agreed-upon model will be shared with the BoG members.

ICC and some leading cricketing boards have given a guarantee that Pakistan will not be asked to play the 2026 World Cup matches in India as all their matches including the semifinals will be organised in Sri Lanka -- the joint hosts of the mega event,” the source confirmed to The News.

There are contrasting reports about the 2026 World Cup T20 final venue in case Pakistan make it to the title decider. No compensation for hosting Indian Champions Trophy matches on a neutral venue will also be discussed.

The PCB BoG members will also be updated on the Gaddafi and National Bank stadiums renovation work and the PCB plans to host a tri-series at the two venues.

“By all means the stadium up-gradation will be completed by January 15.”

The other important issue to be discussed during the meeting will be the PSL expected to be staged in April-May 2025.

“The PCB is likely to approve the dates and other related formalities regarding the 2025 League edition.”

Other issues likely to be discussed include upgrading the first-class venues.
