ISLAMABAD: The King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief) has announced to launch its latest food security initiative (FSI) 2024-2025 for Pakistan.
As part of its global commitment to humanitarian assistance, KSrelief will distribute over (14,000 tonnes) 147,500 food packages across Pakistan from December 2024 to November 2025. The initiative is set to benefit more than a million individuals across all provinces, including Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir.
The vital project, implemented in collaboration with the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), Provincial Disaster Management Authorities (PDMAs), the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (UNOCHA) and other key partners, seeks to combat food insecurity and improvement of the nutritional well-being of vulnerable families.
Each food package, weighing 95 kilograms, includes 80 kg of flour, 5 liters of cooking oil, 5 kg of sugar, 5 kg of pulses. The packages are designed to sustain a family for an entire month. The distribution will be carried out under KSrelief’s direct supervision, ensuring transparency and efficiency. In addition, the beneficiaries will be identified with the assistance of local government authorities to guarantee aid reaches those in greatest need.
The initiative highlights Saudi Arabia’s steadfast commitment to supporting Pakistan and its people. It is part of KSrelief’s broader mission to deliver life-saving assistance and relief to communities affected by natural disasters, food insecurity, and other challenges, regardless of nationality or religion. By addressing critical food needs, KSrelief aims to enhance resilience, foster stability, and improve the quality of life for Pakistan’s most vulnerable communities, reaffirming its role as a global leader in humanitarian efforts.
Federal Minister Rana Tanveer Hussain and Saudi Ambassador Nawaf bin Saeed Ahmad Al-Malki were the guests of honour at the launching ceremony that took place at the Royal Saudi embassy in diplomatic enclave on Friday.
The federal minister eulogised Saudi Arabia’s leadership including the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdul Aziz and Crown Prince, Saudi Arabia’s Prime Minister Muhammad bin Salman for their generous role in helping humanity across the globe.
Ambassador Nawaf bin Saeed Al-Malki delivered his speech in Urdu, English and Arabic, reminding that the well-being of Pakistan and its people is very close to the hearts of Saudi Royal leadership. “Both brotherly countries always stand with each other in every thick and thin. Their friendship has always lived up in testing times,” he said.
The Saudi envoy recalled that King Salman bin Abdul Aziz and Crown Prince Prime Minister Muhammad bin Salman have always been forthcoming to assist the needy ones. He assured that KSrelief would provide support to the people of Pakistan in every nook and corner, adding that the organisation has chalked out comprehensive programme to provide help to the needy people in Pakistan.
