ISLAMABAD: Former minister and independent Senator Faisal Vawda Friday claimed that (Lt-Gen retired) Faiz Hameed had given not only evidence but also proof and devices against Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan.

Speaking in two TV channel shows, he claimed that difficulties were going to increase for Imran Khan and his followers. He claimed that the retired general would also be punished.

He said after the trial of Faiz Hameed, the call for civil disobedience had also lost steam. He said if he would not be tried, then the PTI founder, his spouse and followers would have no problems.

Vawda said if the PTI founder was tried by a military court, he would not be surprised, claiming that investigations from him vis-à-vis more crimes were still ongoing.

He believed that a new social media campaign would be launched by the PTI in which Pakistan would be mentioned by showing footage of Syrian prisoners.

On the issue of PTI’s committee on negotiations, he contended that the government should hold talks and the PTI should join hands. “The head of the government is Nawaz Sharif; (but) he is not making any statement. Imran Khan has a good thinking and is now asking for talks.”

He stressed that the army files a charge-sheet after collecting all the evidence. He said he had already stated that military trial of the PTI founder would not be any surprise. He added that it seemed the PTI’s civil disobedience would be postponed under the guise of party martyrs.

Vawda said some people had given evidence of Imran Khan’s audios and messages, General Faiz was the corps commander at the time of the Peshawar sit-in and the entire PTI was busy saving him.
