Mayor confident Karachi Marathon 2025 to be a success

Karachi Mayor Barrister Murtaza Wahab held a meeting with the organisers of the Karachi Marathon 2025 on Friday at his office.

During the meeting, Wahab commended the marathon for its transformative impact on Pakistan's sports landscape, noting that it had achieved new milestones and introduced AIMS-certified standards to promote healthy endurance sports across the country.

He expressed confidence that the 2025 Karachi Marathon would inspire greater local participation, fostering a spirit of dedication among citizens as they prepare for the event. He added that the marathon would further position Pakistan as one of the countries successfully hosting such prestigious events.

Following the success of the 2024 edition, the mayor praised the organisers for their commendable preparations for the upcoming race. He also expressed his hope that Karachi’s residents would participate in large numbers, showcasing their enthusiasm for sports. "The Karachi Marathon is not just a race; it is a tribute to the 'City of Lights,'" he said, noting that the event brings together individuals from diverse backgrounds and affirms their place in the global running community.

The mayor assured that the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) would provide its full support to ensure the successful organisation of the marathon. The organisers of the Karachi Marathon 2025 announced that the next race would take place on January 5, 2025. They reiterated that the event adheres to internationally recognised standards and was expected to attract participants from all walks of life. The organisers also expressed their gratitude to Mayor Wahab for his continued support in facilitating the marathon's success.
