RAWALPINDI: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder chairman Imran Khan on Thursday expressed his annoyance at his party leadership for not devising a strategy to protest at D Chowk.
Speaking in Geo News programme Aaj Shahzeb Khanzada Kay Sath, Geo News reporter Shabbir Dar narrated details of Imran Khan’s media interaction at Adiala Jail, and said Imran raised questions about the environment outside the prison.
Imran told reporters: “When I saw the news in the newspapers, I got the impression that there was a friendly atmosphere outside the prison and everyone was living happily.”
The PTI founder expressed surprise at the behaviour of his party’s leadership, saying, “I expected that the D-Chowk issue would be raised vigorously in Parliament and other forums, but I am surprised that this did not happen.”
“I am amazed at the [PTI] leadership. If one case ends another begins. The party should have reacted strongly. The December 15 call has become a challenge for the PTI itself rather than the government,” he said.
The PTI founder said that they would hold dialogue on two points, and if their demands are not met, they would go for civil disobedience:
He said: “The number of times General Faiz met me, he took permission of General Bajwa. After meeting me, he used to brief General Bajwa. If he is convicted on May 9, then General Bajwa should also be included in the trial. General Faiz was in fact a subordinate of General Bajwa. If General Faiz is accused of plotting May 9, then General Bajwa is also responsible for it.”
