The Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) on Wednesday thwarted a major attempt to smuggle crystal meth (commonly known as ice) abroad, arresting one suspect in the process.
According to an ANF spokesperson, the operation led to the seizure of 700 kilograms of methamphetamine, which was concealed within a shipment bound for Malaysia. The drugs were cleverly hidden in 854 bags of calcium carbonate in an attempt to evade detection.
Upon thorough inspection, authorities found that 28 of the bags contained the illicit drug. The container, which was booked by a private company based in Karachi, was destined for Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
The suspect, a Karachi resident who had arranged the shipment, had been taken into custody. ANF officials confirmed that investigations were ongoing to identify and apprehend other individuals involved in the smuggling operation. Further inquiries are also underway.
