ISLAMABAD: International security expert Reg Dickason accompanied by another official conducted a comprehensive review of the security measures and preparations for the upcoming tri-series and Champions Trophy set to take place in Pakistan in February 2025.

Highly credible sources told ‘The News’ that the evaluation also includes the ongoing upgrades at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore and National Bank Stadium in Karachi, both of which are under scrutiny to ensure readiness for the high-profile events. “Security experts are closely examining the arrangements and progress of the upgradation work, alongside the extensive security protocols required for these international events,” a source disclosed.

The tri-series, featuring South Africa, New Zealand, and Pakistan, is scheduled as a precursor to the Champions Trophy. The preparation of the venues is advancing swiftly, with substantial progress already achieved.

“Both Gaddafi Stadium and National Bank Stadium will be operational by January 14. The major facelift will be completed by December 31, ensuring readiness well before the events,” confirmed an insider.

Security assessments will extend to all three venues of Champions Trophy, while the tri-series venue Multan Stadium will also undergo a detailed review. The Champions Trophy marks a significant milestone for Pakistan cricket, with preparations reflecting the country’s commitment to hosting top-tier international tournaments.
