National Women’s One-Day Tournament to resume today

LAHORE: The second leg of the National Women’s One-Day Tournament 2024 is set to resume on Thursday (today) across two venues in Islamabad and Rawalpindi. The tournament has been adjusted to 45-over matches.

The opening matches of this phase will feature Fatima Sana-led Conquerors taking on Aliya Riaz-led Challengers at the Shoaib Akhtar Cricket Stadium in Rawalpindi. Simultaneously, Nida Dar’s Strikers will face Sidra Amin’s Stars at the Marghzar Cricket Ground in Islamabad.

The final match is scheduled for Sunday, December 22, at the Shoaib Akhtar Cricket Stadium. Matches will start at 9:30 AM, with the toss at 9:00 AM. The winning team will receive a cash prize of PKR 1.5 million, while the runners-up will earn PKR 1 million.

Right-hand batter Shawaal Zulfiqar has joined the Challengers squad after recovering from rehabilitation at the National Cricket Academy, Lahore. Rising star Samiya Afsar, the player of the tournament in the National Women’s U19 T20 Tournament 2024, has been added to the Conquerors squad.

After 10 matches, Muneeba Ali’s Invincibles lead the points table with an undefeated record, securing four wins from four matches. Stars follow in second place with three wins, while Conquerors and Strikers occupy third and fourth positions, respectively. The Challengers remain winless at the bottom of the table.

Iram Javed (Invincibles): 235 runs in four matches at an average of 78.33, including one century and one half-century.

Aliya Riaz (Challengers): 234 runs with one century and two half-centuries.

Sidra Amin (Stars): 184 runs, featuring two half-centuries.

Ghulam Fatima (Invincibles): 12 wickets in four matches, with a best of 5/17 in a win over Conquerors.

Rameen Shamim (Stars): 11 wickets.

Nashra Sundhu (Conquerors), Tania Saeed (Invincibles), and Anam Amin (Strikers): Nine wickets each.
