I recently had a terrible experience while I was driving to the passport office located in Islamabad. Two wild boars appeared abruptly in front of my car and I managed to swerve just in time to avoid them. This incident occurred at around 9 am. This is no isolated occurrence. Islamabad has seen a significant increase in the population of stray dogs and wild boars. Residents have filed dozens of complaints but, unfortunately, no concrete action has been taken. Walking at night, especially with kids, has become difficult in areas where wild boars are present as they are known to be dangerous and can sometimes attack humans.
This is not the first time the residents of the capital have encountered this problem. In 2018, the same issue was raised and several complaints were filed. While the actions taken by the concerned authorities did prove to be effective in the short-run, the same problems have now returned. We need to come up with a more permanent solution. If timely measures are not taken, it will lead to more accidents and safety concerns. I urge the local authorities to take immediate action to resolve this issue. I would suggest wild boars and stray dogs be relocated to the forest areas surrounding the city, which would provide them a suitable habitat while ensuring public safety.
