Pakistan generates approximately 20 million tons of solid waste annually, with only 40 per cent being collected and disposed of properly. The remaining 60 per cent is either dumped in open spaces and waterways or burned, releasing toxic fumes into the atmosphere. The consequences of improper waste management are adversely affecting our surroundings. Water pollution, soil contamination, and air pollution are all linked to poor waste disposal practices. Moreover, the lack of proper waste management has led to foul smells in many public areas. We need to come up with a better waste management system.
