PESHAWAR: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader and Opposition Leader in the National Assembly Omar Ayub on Monday said that they were ready to negotiate with anyone for the sake of country and nation.
“We are ready to talk to anyone, be it humans or angels, to end the impasse” he said while talking to reporters on the premises of Peshawar High Court after appearing for the bail in several cases.
He also said that a powerful committee had been formed for negotiations, and if their demands were not met, they would have no other option but to launch a civil disobedience movement.
Expressing his frustration, he said there was no rule of law and justice in the country. Being an opposition leader in the National Assembly, he said that he had had to come to the high court every week for obtaining bail.
He said that he had met PTI founder Imran Khan on December 5, and after that, a negotiation committee was formed. The committee, he added, would present its demands to the government and try to get them accepted. He said the cases against them and their workers should be withdrawn. If the cases were not dropped, he said they would move toward civil disobedience.
The PTI leader claimed that a kind of martial law was in Pakistan, and even common citizens were not safe in the country. “There is a flood of cases against us. The government has used advanced weapons on unarmed citizens. My vehicle and cash inside it are missing. I was also tear-gassed on the Hazara Motorway. Rangers came all the way to Haripur. When I questioned the chief secretary and IG about this, they were left speechless. A case has been filed at Haripur Police Station against the IG Islamabad. The legs of the KP IG and chief secretary are trembling,” he went on to say.
Senator Shibli Faraz, Shaukat Yousafzai and Member National Assembly Muhammad Asif Khan were also present on the occasion. The PTI leaders announced that a condolence reference would be held on Friday. “Thousands of our workers have been injured, and many are still missing,” they claimed.
When asked about Faisal Vawda, the PTI leader questioned which party he was representing. Shibli Faraz commented that they had been kept occupied with politically motivated cases. “The people of Kashmir got their demands accepted through peaceful means. We also protested peacefully, but bullets were fired at us,” he said. The PTI leaders affirmed their commitment to continue a peaceful struggle to achieve their demands.
