LAHORE: The 41st Millat Tractors Governors Cup Golf Tournament concluded at the Lahore Gymkhana Golf Course, with Farooq Alvi of Skyview Golf Club emerging as the celebrated champion. The prestigious event, contested over 54 holes, attracted top amateur golfers from across the country.
Alvi showcased exceptional consistency, carding net scores of 69, 69, and 78 in his three rounds, finishing with an aggregate score of 216 to secure victory. Despite a modest performance on the final day, his early lead and composed play under pressure ensured his triumph.
Ghulam Qadir of Nowshera claimed the runner-up position with a net score of 217, just one stroke behind the winner. A missed putt in the final moments proved decisive for Qadir, leaving him disappointed but admired for his spirited effort.
Farid Maneka of Gymkhana also recorded a net score of 217 but was placed third based on the tournament rules, as Qadir outperformed him on the final day. Other notable competitors included: Hamza Kardar: Net 218, Asim Zafar: Net 219, Ahmed Jibran and Farooq Khan: Net 221
The gross category saw an impressive performance by Salman Jehangir, who scored rounds of 75, 76, and 73, achieving an aggregate gross score of 224 to win the first gross title. Second Gross: Muhammad Shoaib (228). Third Gross: Nouman Ilyas (229), Pakistan’s number one-ranked amateur golfer. In the junior and ladies categories, standout performances included: Junior Boys: 1st – Zayd Omar, 2nd – Ayyan Bashir, Junior Girls: Fatima Akram.
