Syrian ambassador to Pakistan reconciles with change in Damascus

Syrian envoy also makes it clear that Syria has no problem with government and people of Turkey

ISLAMABAD: Syrian Ambassador for Pakistan Dr. Ramez Alraee has reconciled with change of hands in Damascus and maintained that they are now in a new phase in Syria and all he hopes as the outcome of it Syria would be stable, secure, prosperous and unified and it will achieve the interests of its people.

The new administration will work for their aspirations for goodness, security and stability.” The ambassador who had a brief chat with the media here in the day on Sunday, told this scribe in evening that no-one knows where is the former President Bashar el Asad but one thing is confirmed that he isn’t in Syria as he left the country after mid-night of Saturday.

The ambassador wasn’t aware till late evening of Sunday that Bashar had reached any capital. The Syrian envoy also made it clear that Syria has no problem with the government and people of Turkey. Syrian people always pray for the well-being of the Ummah and brotherly Muslim people including of Pakistan.

Ambassador Dr. Ramez said that Syrian prime minister is still in place in Damascus and he would arrange for general elections in the country. Syria will also go for presidential polls.

Dr. Ramez prayed that “May God protect Syria, Pakistan and all our Islamic countries and I hope to contribute to serving my country and my people in all areas.”

The diplomatic sources told The News here Sunday that the sudden fall of Damascus to opposition was surprised for Syrian diplomats like other people around the world. They were in contact with their headquarters.

Pakistan’s Ambassador for Syria Air Marshal Shahid Akhtar Alvi has briefed the Foreign Office regarding developments in Syria.

The dispatches consigned by Pakistan mission in Damascus have given detailed picture of situation in that country. The dispatches suggested that Pakistani present in Syria and diplomatic staff are safe.

Fear and uncertainty have gripped the whole country. The opposition victory is rejoiced by the people at large. In the meantime sources made it clear that Syrian envoy in Islamabad Dr. Ramez is a career diplomat who stands by the government in his country. He is loyal to the administration and his country, the sources added.
