Cold wave to prevail till 14th

LAHORE : Cold and partly cloudy weather was recorded in the City here on Sunday while Met office warned that cold wave was likely to prevail over most parts of the country from today (Monday) till 14th December.

Met officials said a westerly wave was affecting northeastern parts of the country and likely to move Northeastward during next 12 to 18 hours.

They predicted that mainly dry weather and cold wave condition was expected in most parts of the country. However, light rain-thunderstorm (with light snowfall over the hills) was likely at isolated places in Gilgit-Baltistan, Kashmir and adjoining hilly areas.

Sunday’s minimum temperature was recorded at Leh, Skardu and Kalat where mercury dropped to -07°C, while in Lahore, it was 8°C and maximum was 21.5°C.

The air quality index (AQI) of the City remained unhealthy and the average AQI was 189. The PM2.5 concentrations were 22 times the World Health Organisation annual PM2.5 guideline value.

The AQI of different City areas was Gulberg (239), Bedian Road (234), Polo Ground Cantt (204), Powerzone head office (201), US Consulate in Lahore (196) and WWF-Pakistan (195).

Obituary

Begum Akram Hayat Mallick, former MPA and mother of former chief executive of Punjab Institute of Cardiology Dr Nadeem Hayat Mallick, passed away on Sunday.
