Our rulers are not unaware of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child, but the plight of children in this country is pitiable. Most of the country’s children, especially in the rural and remote areas, are deprived of basic welfare and denied their rights.
I think children should come first on the national agenda. Our federal and provincial ministries should frame their policies and programmes based on the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child.
