Omar Ayub files contempt of court petition in PHC
PESHAWAR: National Assembly Opposition Leader Omar Ayub on Saturday filed a contempt of court petition in the Peshawar High Court seeking action against the officials of Punjab Police for his arrest despite the orders and protective bail granted by the PHC.
In the petition, Omar Ayub has named Inspector General of Police, Punjab, Usman Anwar, Rawalpindi and Attock district police officers and superintendent of police Saddar Rawalpindi as respondents.
The petition said that the petitioner was granted protective bail by the PHC until December 19. Despite that, Rawalpindi police arrested the petitioner while he was en-route to Adiala Jail and kept him habeas corpus.
The petition pleaded that the respondents had violated the PHC’s orders, and that the police’s actions fall under contempt of court.
