This letter refers to the article ‘Pakistan’s housing crisis needs innovation’ (December 1, 2024) by Adanan Pasha Siddiqui. The writer cites an Asian Development Bank study which shows that around 57 per cent of Pakistan’s urban population currently resides in informal shanty settlements.
I would like to ask our rulers why there is no affordable housing for the majority of Pakistanis. Whatever happened to the slogan ‘roti, kapra, aur makan’?
