ISLAMABAD: Former Chairman Senate Mian Raza Rabbani has taken a strong exception to the Federal government’s violation of Article 154(3), Constitution, 1973, by not convening a meeting of the Council of Common Interests (CCI) within 90 days and demanded that a meeting of the CCI be convened immediately.
“The CCI has not been summoned for the past more than nine months and the Constitution, 1973, continues to be violated daily,” he said in a statement on Friday. The Sindh government has written to the Prime Minister’s office to convene a meeting to address urgent matters, particularly the water issue related to canals from the Indus River.
He said the proviso of Clause 3, Article 154, Constitution, 1973, provides that when a request by a provincial government is made for a meeting on an urgent matter, as in this case Sindh, the Prime Minister shall convene a meeting.
Rabbani argued that by not convening such a meeting, another provision of the Constitution, 1973, continues to be violated.
