Woman village councillor threatens to commit suicide
CHITRAL: A village councillor on Monday said that she would commit suicide if the government and district administration did not help her rebuild her house destroyed three months back.
Speaking at the press club here, Zulekha Bibi, a councillor of Herth village, said that the government and district administration have not provided her financial assistance for rebuilding her house, which was destroyed due to heavy rain in April. “The house was damaged in earthquake while torrential rains destroyed it in April,” she added.
She said that despite collecting data about the damaged and destroyed houses her family was not provided any assistance. She said that her 11-member family was forced to live with relatives and regretted the authorities’ apathy towards her situation. She asked the government to help her rebuild her house before Eid.
