I talk to my friend, who is currently living in Australia, and she shares her experiences of how education abroad is different than in Pakistan. One of the main differences she shared is how the professors support their undergraduate students. She said professors have regular meetings with students if they need help, unlike in Pakistan, where students have to pursue teachers for assignment or quiz help. And, if a student delivers a presentation, the professor will give them comprehensive feedback without making them feel inferior or like a failure. Their education system does not promote grades but thorough understanding.
What I liked the most was the availability of resources, feedback, and freedom of conducting research without the fear or hesitation of making mistakes or being misjudged. The examination system is flexible and includes simple problem-based assignments. This also reduces the chances of students cheating in exams merely to pass or get a good grade. I believe if we could adopt just some of these ideas, our education system would improve considerably.
