LAHORE: The Punjab government Tuesday stopped the annual increase in three types of pensions in the province with effect from December 2, 2024.
According to a circular issued by Finance Secretary Mujahid Sherdil, the suspension of pension increases began for government employees retiring from Tuesday. The Finance Department sent a circular to all administrative secretaries and heads on the implications of the orders.
The pension increase under paragraph one of the Finance Department’s letter issued in 2015 and the increase under paragraph two of the letter issued in 2011 have also been stopped. Similarly, the pension increase under paragraph one of the Finance Department’s letter issued in 2022 has been stopped. The finance secretary directed in the circular that all departments and institutions should take documented steps to stop the pension increase under the new letter.
