DUBAI: Grand celebrations marked the UAE’s 53rd National Day, renamed as Eid Al Ittihad across emirates. Dubai Police organised vibrant cultural programmes to engage the labour community, including a tug-of-war competition, which was won by Pakistani workers.
The festivities also featured self-defence and martial arts demonstrations, reflecting the multicultural ethos of the UAE.
While speaking to The News during UAE’s 53rd National Day celebrations in Dubai, police officials expressed their gratitude towards the hardworking labour force, describing them as “partners in progress and development.”
A Dubai police official stated in Urdu, “we are honoured to have such dedicated residents who contribute immensely to the emirate’s growth. We always request our hardworking residents to assist us in our mission of achieving zero crime and accidents in Dubai. Every nationality supports us in spreading the message of peace and harmony.”
Pakistani blue-collar workers shared their pride and joy during the celebrations, highlighting how Dubai has provided them with opportunities to earn an honest living. “Our families in Pakistan are safe and happy, thanks to the remittances we send home,” they said, expressing their gratitude for Dubai’s supportive environment.
The Pakistan Social Centre in Sharjah celebrated the National Day with enthusiasm. The evening was filled with Emirati songs, children performing traditional dances and a cake-cutting ceremony that brought together the Pakistani community and Emirati hosts.
Cultural Wing representative Saima Naqvi emphasised the deep connection between Pakistan and the UAE, describing the two nations as “two hearts, one soul.” General Secretary Faraz Siddiqui praised the UAE leadership for its transformative achievements over five decades, calling them a testament to visionary governance.
Pakistani expatriates took part in a special blood donation drive in Dubai to honor UAE National Day. Over 100 individuals donated blood, symbolising their appreciation and solidarity with the nation that has embraced them.
Umar Farooq, a representative of Pakistanis in Dubai, highlighted that the blood donations were a heartfelt gesture of gratitude, underscoring the strong bond between the Pakistani community and the UAE.
