LAHORE: The Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) has set up over 100 sector-specific and sub-sector-specific committees aimed at supporting government efforts for the country’s economic well-being.

This strategic initiative, led by LCCI President Mian Abuzar Shad, Senior Vice President Engineer Khalid Usman and Vice President Shahid Nazir Chaudhry, underscores the chamber’s commitment to fostering a dynamic, business-friendly environment.

The LCCI is one of the country’s premier business institutions, and its leadership has consistently played a key role in advancing economic progress. These standing committees are designed to serve as specialised think tanks, each focusing on addressing unique challenges, identifying opportunities, and driving innovation within their respective sectors. The committees will play a crucial role in shaping policy recommendations, enhancing competitiveness and promoting sustainable growth across key economic sectors.

Shad praised the transformative potential of these committees. He said, “By establishing these sector-specific platforms, we aim to bridge the gap between the business community and policymakers. This initiative ensures that the voices of all industries are heard, and their needs are addressed, paving the way for a more inclusive and progressive economic framework.”

The committees will produce well-researched policy proposals and actively engage with government authorities to advocate for regulatory reforms that support business growth and investment.

Serving as a conduit between businesses and government agencies, the committees will facilitate dialogue to resolve industry-specific challenges, ensuring a smoother operational environment for enterprises. They will identify emerging trends, promote innovation and develop strategies to enhance the global competitiveness of Pakistani industries.

These platforms will foster collaboration among industry stakeholders, encouraging partnerships that drive mutual growth and innovation. To equip businesses with the necessary skills and knowledge, the committees will organise training sessions, workshops and seminars tailored to the needs of each sector.

Usman said that the formation of additional committees is underway to address the needs of emerging sectors and evolving market dynamics. “Our vision is to ensure comprehensive representation for all industries, enabling them to contribute effectively to national economic development. These committees will serve as catalysts for innovation, efficiency, and competitiveness,” he said.

Chaudhry emphasised the importance of active participation from stakeholders. “The success of these committees depends on the engagement of industry leaders and experts. LCCI encourages all members to actively contribute, collaborate, and leverage these platforms to drive collective progress,” he said.

The LCCI leadership reiterated its commitment to supporting the business ecosystem through strategic public-private collaboration. The chamber will continuously assess the performance of these committees to ensure they align with national economic objectives and deliver tangible results for the business community.
