Report reveals Punjab to be most affected province by smog with 94% experiencing the phenomenon

ISLAMABAD: The majority of Pakistani people have reported being affected by smog and people of Punjab are the most worried about it. It was revealed in survey of Ipsos Pakistan. A thousand people participated from across the country in the survey, which was conducted between November 18 and November 22, 2024.

When asked if they had experienced smog in the past month, 79 percent of those surveyed said yes, while 21 percent said they had not experienced smog. Among the provinces, Punjab was the most affected by smog and 94% faced the problem, 72% from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 57% from Sindh and 47% from Balochistan said they were affected by smog. 100% of people from Lahore said to be affected by smog, 93% from Multan, 88% from Rawalpindi/Islamabad and 86% from Peshawar city of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa said to have faced smog.

Over 68% of the respondents said that children’s education was affected the most due to smog, 64% said that their daily life affairs, 63% of business and office work, while 63% said that non-participation in social events.
