Islamabad:Islamabad Electric Supply Company (Iesco) teams checked more than 95,000 meters of different tariffs, out of which 318 meters were being used for electricity theft in various ways, said Iesco Chief Executive Muhammad Naeem Jan, while giving details of the actions taken against electricity thieves during the November 2024, says a press release.
Iesco imposed fines of more than Rs26.5 million on consumers involved in electricity theft on the basis of direct use of electricity, slow and tempered meters, and 166 FIRs were registered and 31 electricity thieves were also arrested by the police.
Iesco Chief Executive Muhammad Naeem Jan said that our teams are fully mobilised to eliminate electricity theft from the Iesco region and we are following a zero-tolerance policy against these thieves because electricity theft is a major obstacle to the development and stable economy of Pakistan and the bills of electricity thieves have to be paid by ordinary consumers.
