Six booked over smog SOPs violation

LAHORE:Following the directives of Inspector General of Police (IGP) Punjab, Dr Usman Anwar, the Punjab Police have booked six people and issued warning to 31 others over the violation of smog SOPs during the last 24 hours.
According to the police spokesperson, two people were booked over setting fire to crops stubble and 4,477 smoky vehicles were ticketed and 372 ones were impounded and fitness certificates of seven vehicles have been suspended.
The spokesperson maintained that 864,000 smoky vehicles have been fined on highways and 170,253 impounded, and fitness certificates for 10,101 vehicles have been suspended during the last eleven months.
