In another tragic incident, armed robbers shot and killed the owner of a tyre shop for putting up resistance during a robbery bid on Sunday.
The incident took place in the Jamshed Quarters area. The victim, Hasan Arif, 22, was due to be married in just 12 days. The tragic incident turned a joyous household into one of mourning.
Police said the young man ran his shop, Hussain Tyre Shop, near Peoples Chowrangi. Over five armed men on motorcycles posing as participants of a Sindh Culture Day rally entered the shop to rob it.
As Arif attempted to resist, the robbers open fire on him killing him on the spot. Police and rescue personnel arrived at the scene shifted the body to the Civil Hospital. SHO Imtiaz Rufi stated that the suspects used the rally as a cover to commit the crime. The victim was a resident of Gulistan-e-Jauhar Block 19 and the second among three brothers. Police said they were attempting to obtain CCTV footage from the vicinity to identify and apprehend the culprits. No case had been registered till the filing of this story.
