MANSEHRA: The district chapter of the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) remained divided even on the party’s 57th foundation day, holding separate cake-cutting ceremonies.
The divisional president of the party in Hazara Division, Malik Farooq, was the chief guest at one ceremony, where he cut the cake.Meanwhile, a dissident group within the party organised a separate function chaired by Haq Nawaz Khan, a former contestant of provincial assembly.
“We are proud of our party’s founding chairman Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and his daughter who sacrificed their lives for this country,” Farooq said.He added that the current party leadership, including Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, was following the legacy of his grandfather and mother while working to strengthen democracy.
“It was Bhutto Zardari who played a pivotal role in the passage of the 26th Amendment,” Farooq said.He urged the dissident group to set aside their differences for the greater good of the party.
“We are working to strengthen the party at the grassroots across Hazara Division, and those opposing our policies should join us to resolve their grievances,” Farooq stated.Speaking at the dissident group’s function, Haq Nawaz Khan said they would not tolerate favoritism in the selection of office-bearers.
