PPP leaders vow to render sacrifices for rule of law, democracy
TAKHTBHAI: The leaders of local chapter of the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) on Sunday pledged that they would not hesitate to render more sacrifices for the rule of law, restoration of true democracy, justice and human rights to put the country and nation back on the track to development and prosperity.
Addressing a function held in connection with the marking of 57th Foundation Day of PPP held at the residence of Namdar Khan Shagai, the general secretary of Mardan district, Asad Khan said that Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto laid the foundation of the PPP to make Pakistan an economic and nuclear power and gave the oppressed people the right to fight for their rights.
“PPP workers were empowered to form trade unions, students were given the right to form associations and the government employees were granted similar rights,” he said, adding that Bhutto gave Pakistan a unanimous constitution and was also a driving force behind the first Islamic Summit Conference and observing holiday on Friday.
Former divisional president Shaukat Ali Khan advocate chaired while Mardan division president Nawabzada Omar Farooq Hoti, former lawmaker Haji Imtiaz Khan Shagai, provincial vice-president Shoaib Alam Khan Khattak, provincial council member Shaukat Ali Khan advocate and leaders attended the event.
The speakers recounted the sacrifices, struggle and achievements of PPP in the fight for democracy and constitutionalism.They said that the PPP had always fought for the upholding of law, democracy and the integrity of Pakistan, and would continue to do so. “PPP is a party of martyrs and heroes, and its leadership has never hesitated to make sacrifices for the nation,” said a speaker.
They said Shaheed Bhutto embraced gallows but never bowed to any dictator.They pledged to continue their political struggle for the rights of Pakistan’s working class, farmers and labourers and to ensure that the innocent blood of PPP’s martyrs was not wasted.
