Pakistan’s educational system falls short when it comes to higher education. When comparing our educational atmosphere and facilities to those in prosperous countries, we come up short. Our system is plagued by inadequate resources and unequal opportunities. A major flaw in our educational system is the injustice that pervades result announcements. It is disheartening to see individuals bestowed with top honours despite lacking the requisite talent. This raises questions about the integrity of our educators, who are expected to uphold the values of fairness and impartiality.
As guardians of knowledge, teachers should mete out justice, recognising students’ hard work and dedication without bias. Unfortunately, favouritism and discrimination often rear their heads, undermining the sanctity of the teaching profession. It is high time our educators understood that they will be ‘answerable to a higher power’ for their actions.
