LAHORE : The cases of hepatitis B and C are increasing rapidly in Pakistan which is a matter of great concern and it is need of the hour to take timely measures to prevent the spread of this disease.

Similarly, awareness should be created among the people regarding the symptoms of hepatitis and its treatment while possible precautionary measures can be taken to prevent this disease.

Ameer Uddin Medical College & Lahore General Hospital Principal Prof Dr Al-Fareed Zafar expressed these views while inaugurating the Hepatitis B, C and H. Pylori screening campaign organised by the Blood Donation Society of Ameer Uddin Medical College.

The purpose of the campaign was to provide awareness about early diagnosis of these diseases and preventions. Prof Al-Fareed said the health professionals and medical students are a valuable asset of the nation, it is very important for them to be healthy because the medical staff has to treat the patients so doctors should take every possible precaution along with treatment and get their blood screening twice a year. The spread of this disease has increased to such an extent that further steps are needed at the govt level to prevent it.
