LAKKI MARWAT: A policeman and two villagers were killed when unidentified gunmen opened fire on them in a remote Paharkhel Pakka area here on Saturday.

Police officials said that Qadir Khan, a sub-inspector of police in Punjab, was on his way when unidentified assailants opened fire on him, killing him and two other villagers on the spot.

The two other slain persons were identified as Abdul Hakim and his son Rafiullah.

The officials said that the bodies were shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital Tajazai while the attackers managed to flee the place.

They said that the slain cop was posted in Punjab police and he had come to his village on leave.

“Investigation is underway after registration of a case under relevant section of law,” said an official, adding that they were investigating whether it was an act of terrorism or result of any personal enmity.
