NUSHKI/KHUZDAR: Over 10 armed people Friday night attacked a Levies check post and Gandari Dam construction site in the Reko Zarin Jungle area on the Kharan-Nushki Highway, abducting six people.
According to the security sources, the armed assailants attacked the Levies check post after blocking the highway. They seized three rifles and other equipment from the check post. Later, they attacked the construction camp and set it on fire, abducting six people.
The assailants also took a pickup truck from the camp. The kidnapped individuals are said to be from Quetta and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
After the incident, the security forces cordoned off the area and began searching for the culprits.
A security alert has been issued in the district. However, it was not officially confirmed by the government sources.
In another incident, some unidentified people torched machinery at an under-construction dam project in the suburban area of Sani Nawah in Khuzdar and escaped.
Upon receiving the report, the Levies Force arrived at the location. Further action is being taken.
Meanwhile, two personnel of the Pakistan Coast Guard were injured in a blast targeting their patrolling vehicle in the small coastal town of Jiwani, Gwadar district, on Friday.
According to police, unidentified individuals detonated an improvised explosive device (IED) as the vehicle passed through the Bhagwan Chowk area of Jiwani.
The explosion damaged the vehicle and injured two personnel, who were immediately shifted to Jiwani Hospital for treatment.
