Islamabad : Additional District and Sessions Judge (ADSJ) Islamabad, Adnan Rasool Lark, has sentenced an accused to death twice for the kidnapping, rape, and murder of an eight-year-old girl.
During the proceedings, Prosecutor Atif Ranjha argued that the police apprehended the accused, Ali Akhtar, following an identity parade. Evidence, including a dupatta and shoes belonging to the victim, was recovered from Akhtar, and forensic reports confirmed his involvement.
The accused also cooperated with the police during the investigation but was formally arrested due to suspicious activities. After hearing arguments from both parties, the court sentenced Akhtar to two death penalties, life imprisonment under the murder charge, and a fine of Rs1 million.
The Sumbal Police Station had registered a case against unknown individuals in 2023. In a separate case, a session court handed life imprisonment to Muhammad Taj for murdering Ghulam Nabi in 2001. The court also directed Taj to pay Rs500,000 to the victim’s family.
