LAHORE:The Office of the Ombudsman Punjab has mediated to retrieve 9 kanals and 7 marlas of state-owned land worth over Rs120 million across the province.
The action was taken in response to complaints about illegal encroachments and unauthorised occupation of public property. Following the Ombudsman’s orders, provincial depts took prompt steps to recover the land from illegal occupants. According to details, complainants had reported encroachments on government land and public pathways. Acting on these grievances, the Ombudsman’s office directed the line depts to expedite their efforts, resulting in the restoration of valuable state-owned land. In addition, the Ombudsman’s office also facilitated the resolution of financial claims for 65 individuals from various districts. Two applicants received Rs3.8m monthly financial assistance, while seven others were paid Rs1.715m as death and marriage grants. Meanwhile, two plaintiffs were awarded Rs269,000 in group insurance claims, and 54 applicants received Rs1.642m in outstanding educational scholarships. The complainants, who had earlier reported delays in receiving their dues, praised the Ombudsman.
