KARACHI: Pakistan Taekwondo Federation (PTF) is expecting athletes from more than 20 countries in the 7th Asia (G-1) Open International Taekwondo Championship that is to be held at Liaquat Gymnasium, Islamabad, from February 20-27 next year.
“The entries for the championship have just started. We are expecting more than 20 countries to participate in this event,” said Secretary PTF Murtaza Hassan while talking to ‘The News’. He added that the preparations for this international championship are in full swing while Pakistan Sports Board has also issued NOC in this regard.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Interior has forwarded instructions to PTF for smooth conduct of the event. The instructions include: visiting teams may be given status of VIP and all foolproof security measures may be adopted while police and Special Branch Personnel may be deployed at entry and exit points of the venue along with installation of walk through gates. Besides, bulletproof vehicles should be provided for the transportation of the teams.
