Pakistan, South Africa win Blind WC matches
LAHORE: Pakistan and South Africa cruised past their respective rivals on day seven of the 4th T20 Blind Cricket World Cup in the second phase at Multan on Friday.
In the day’s opening match, Pakistan crushed Sri Lanka by nine wickets. Pakistan continued their dominant form in the tournament, securing a comprehensive 9-wicket victory over Sri Lanka. Batting first after winning the toss, Sri Lanka managed to post 122 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in 20 overs. Thushara top-scored with 28 runs off 37 balls.
Pakistan chased down the target in just 6.2 overs, losing only one wicket. Opener Naeemullah played a brilliant knock, scoring an unbeaten 71 off 29 balls. Babar Ali and Naeemullah were the pick of the bowlers for Pakistan, taking 2 wickets each. In the other match, South Africa dominated Afghanistan in a convincing manner. South Africa secured a convincing 9-wicket victory over Afghanistan.
Afghanistan, winning the toss, elected to bat first and managed to score 171 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in 20 overs. Captain Abasin top-scored with 63 runs off 52 balls while Darran contributed 30 runs off 22 balls. In reply, South Africa chased down the target in just 11.4 overs, losing only one wicket. Lesidi Leysofi played a brilliant knock, scoring an unbeaten 75 off 44 balls, while Mathapo contributed 60 off 33 balls. On Saturday (today), two matches are scheduled. Pakistan will face Afghanistan at Multan Cricket Stadium while South Africa and Bangladesh will clash at DHA Cricket Ground.
