Islamabad : The National Emergencies Operation Centre (NEOC) of the NDMA has issued a weather alert regarding an incoming westerly wave expected to affect the western regions of the country starting November 28.

This system is predicted to bring a mix of rain, wind, thunderstorms, and snowfall to various areas. Rain, wind, and thunderstorms are anticipated in the western and upper parts of the country, with snowfall likely over mountainous regions.

The Potohar region and nearby areas are forecast to experience rain and thunderstorms. Upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, including the Malakand and Hazara divisions, is expected to receive rain and thunderstorms, with snowfall at higher elevations. In contrast, the plains of Punjab are likely to remain dry, although smog and fog may persist, particularly during early mornings and nights.

The NDMA has urged local authorities, emergency services, and the public to stay alert and take precautions. According to it, travellers in northern and hilly areas should be cautious due to slippery roads and poor visibility. Farmers are advised to protect their crops from potential weather damage.
