Capacity-building workshop for police PROs

National Police Bureau successfully hosted a pragmatic public relations officers’ workshop to build their capacity for better handling of media and related issues.
It is recapped that 15 police organisations have appointed Public Relation Officers (PROs) to narrate organisational policies, performances, challenges and their future plans. These PROs are interacting on a day-to-day basis issuing press releases, representing as spokespersons, police representatives and also delivering media talks, beside omissions and commissions of police practical working.
In the context NPB thought it imperative to build the capacity of PROs and for the purpose held a day-long workshop to apprise them of the latest trends, issues, dilemmas and dynamics of the media world.
The PROs of the 15 police organisations had the opportunity to listen to the best anchors and media persons; and got oriented with their perspective to overcome the existing state of affairs.
Besides, they had an opportunity to meet their sister organisations PROs and learn from their understanding as well.
PEMRA former chairman Kamal Tipu, journalists Alina Shigri, Ammar Masood and Qasim Nauman deliberated and shared their experiences with police PROs.
NPB intends to compile a compendium from the outcome of the workshop which shall be shared with the police chiefs to enhance their organisational proficiency to handle media and its related challenges. Participants appreciated the initiative paying gratitude to ministry of interior and bureau for conducting first such police organisation national unified media workshop.
