PESHAWAR: Chief Minister Ali Amin Khan Gandapur on Wednesday directed the officials to expedite the assessment of financial losses in Kurram district to provide compensation to the affected individuals.
He issued the directives as he chaired a high-level meeting to review the latest law and order situation in the troubled district.
The meeting was attended by Chief Secretary Nadeem Aslam Chaudhry, Inspector General of Police Akhtar Hayat Khan, Additional Chief Secretary Home, Muhammad Abid Majeed and other senior officials, said a handout.
The officials informed the chief minister that a 10-day ceasefire had been agreed between the warring parties in Kurram, and negotiations to amicably resolve the dispute are underway.
They added that law-enforcing agencies personnel were being deployed at key locations to maintain law and order, while an assessment of the damage caused to properties during clashes was being carried out in the area.
It was informed that a security plan and standard operating procedures had been issued tAo ensure the safe movement of residents in the district.
Talking on this occasion the chief minister hailed the ceasefire agreement and expressed hope that this temporary truce would pave the way for lasting peace in the region.
He emphasized the importance of resolving conflicts through dialogue in accordance with Pakhtun traditions.
The chief minister directed the officials to expedite the assessment of financial losses to provide prompt compensation to the affected individuals further directing them to ensure the provision of financial assistance to the families of those who lost their lives in the conflict should be disbursed without delay.
“Restoration of sustainable peace in the region is the provincial government’s top priority,” he affirmed, adding that all available options would be utilized to achieve this end.
