KHAR: The Amn (peace) Jirga on Wednesday imposed a ban on the movement of people at night owing to volatile situation in Bajaur tribal district.

The Bajaur Amn Jirga after a threadbare discussion at the grand jirga at the Civil Colony, Khar, said that a ban was necessary on unnecessary movement of people after 9 PM.The jirga elders, including Malik Gul Karim Khan, Malik Shaheen Khan, Haji Sardar, Syed Akhundzada Chattaan, Haji Akbar Jan, Sheikh Jahanzada, Khar Bazaar president Wajid Ali, Shah Naseer Khan and dozens of other elders, said that due to the ongoing incidents of target killing, theft, robberies and overall lawlessness, they were compelled to impose a ban on the movement of residents to prevent occurrence of such crimes in the district.

They said that no action would be taken by police or local residents if a person was killed after 9 PM. “Anyone killed after that time would not be taken into account. If someone is killed after 9 PM, the police would not register a first information report for the murder,” announced an elder of the jirga.

He said that this decision had to be taken due to severe lawlessness and unrest in Bajaur tribal district. “If anyone needs to go to another village for some urgent and important work in unavoidable circumstances, he must inform someone before going there.”
