BATKHELA: The Islami Jamiat-e-Talaba (IJT), Malakand Division, on Wednesday threatened to besiege the governor and chief minister’s houses in Peshawar if the increasing trade of drugs and its use and incidents of harassment were not halted at educational institutions of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa forthwith.

“We will not hesitate to ring the Governor’s House and Chief Minister’s House if the universities, colleges and schools were not purged of the menace of drugs and harassment,” said one of the IJT leaders while addressing a protest gathering held on the Swat Expressway.

Speaking on the occasion, IJT central nazim Hassan Bilal Hashmi, provincial nazim Dr Waseem Haider, Inayatullah Khan, Abdul Wasi, Zakir Hussain and others also criticised the government for not appointing vice-chancellors for the universities.

They said that provincial government had declared an education emergency for the last 12 years but most of the universities in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa were running without VCs, and the government had no concern for it.
