A fire broke out in a dye manufacturing factory in New Karachi’s Gabol Goth on Wednesday. The fire erupted in the morning in a two-storey building that housed the factory. The blaze quickly intensified engulfing all the floors. Five fire tenders, one snorkel and a water bowser from the fire brigade reached the location and started the operation to control the fire.
The fire caused cans of coloured chemicals and oil inside the factory to explode, spreading fear and panic in the area. After approximately three hours of continuous efforts, the fire brigade extinguished the blaze. A Suzuki vehicle parked on the ground floor and prepared goods worth millions of rupees were completely destroyed in the fire. Fortunately, no casualties were reported.
According to a spokesperson for the fire brigade, due to a large quantity of chemicals in the factory, foam was used alongside water for firefighting. The fire brigade also warned that the blaze significantly weakened the building's structure, and a mobile tower installed on the roof posed a potential hazard. The exact cause of the fire and estimate of the financial losses are yet to be determined. Further investigations are under way.
Separately, a fire broke out in a residential house in Khayaban-e-Rizwan, DHA Phase VII. According to a spokesperson for Rescue 1122, upon receiving the emergency call, a rescue team along with one ambulance and two fire trucks were immediately dispatched to the scene.
The rescue workers tried to control the fire and rescued the people trapped inside the house. The fire was eventually extinguished. A total of five people were safely rescued from the affected house, and no casualties were reported.
