LAHORE:Mera Pyara Centre of Punjab Safe City Authority handled 21,723 cases involving children in the past four months.
Among these, 4,277 FIRs were lodged, and 4,924 children were safely reunited with their families due to the efforts of the Virtual Centre for Child Safety. The spokesperson reported that the Virtual Centre for Child Safety resolved 18,908 cases in four months, with 167 cases under investigation. Out of 5,207 cases of missing children, 4,924 children were reunited with their families. FIRs were lodged for 254 missing cases, while feedback for 275 cases is still pending. In cases of abduction, 2,689 cases were reported, out of which 2,456 children were reunited with their families. FIRs were registered for 214 abduction cases, while feedback for 221 cases is still awaited. In cases of child abuse, 2,592 cases were reported, with 1,267 FIRs filed. 623 suspects were arrested, and 592 challans were submitted in court. Additionally, 2,695 cases of found children were reported, with 2,611 reunited with their families. Search efforts are ongoing for 84 children currently being cared for at various locations: 44 at Edhi Centres, 18 at the Child Protection Bureau, seven in Dar-ul-Aman, six in orphanages, and nine at other places.
24,000 POs arrested in 11 months
Continuing its stern crackdown on proclaimed offenders (POs), the Lahore Police Wednesday claimed to have arrested more than 24,000 POs in 11 months. According to a statement of the Lahore Police spokesperson, the police arrested 5,131 POs in Cantonment Division, 2,139 in Civil Lines area; 5,858 in City Division, 3,260 in Iqbal Town; 4,032 in Sadr Division and 3,994 in Model Town Division.
The police also arrested 1,684 target offenders in the Cantonment Division, 702 in Civil Lines, 3,289 in City Division, 1,572 in Iqbal Town, 1,564 in Sadr and 1,102 in the Model Town divisions.
