HANGU: The Hangu-Kohat main road was reopened for all type of vehicular traffic after three-day closure of the route.Hangu Deputy Commissioner Gohar Zaman Wazir told reporters that complete peace and order was restored in the district. He said that due to the ongoing tension and protests in Kurram district, traffic on the Hangu-Kohat main highway had been halted.
However, with the cooperation of the peace committee and local elders, successful negotiations were held between the two parties. He said that the Hangu-Kohat main road was now open for all types of traffic and the markets were also reopened and businesses started as usual.
Gohar Wazir added that over 15,000 displaced people from Kurram had arrived in Hangu He said the district administration was providing accommodation and meals to 1,700 displaced people.
He said that both Shia and Sunni elders along with the members of peace committee played a key role in restoring peace. “Hangu is a peaceful district and its people are peace-loving and patriotic,” he concluded.
