LAHORE:The Traffic police on Tuesday announced that motorcyclists have only three days left to benefit from the ongoing relief initiative for obtaining learning and regular driving licences.
The scheme, which has seen overwhelming public response, will end on Nov 30, after which a crackdown will be launched against unlicensed riders. The police further urged citizens to visit licensing centres with their original CNICs to avoid legal action. According to Additional IG Mirza Farhan Baig, the special relief package for motorcycle licences has benefitted over 1.2 million citizens. Official statistics revealed that 460,940 citizens obtained learning licences while 764,961 secured regular licences.
Additionally, over 185,000 licences were renewed during the relief period. A Traffic Police spokesperson emphasised the urgency for motorcyclists to take advantage of the scheme before the deadline. “From December 1, the 42-day validity period for learning licences will be strictly enforced again,” the spokesperson stated.
