‘Quality education being provided in medical varsities’

LAHORE:Provincial Health Minister Khawaja Salman Rafique said that quality education facilities are being provided in medical institutions and transparency is being ensured in the financial affairs of medical universities of the province.

He said this while addressing the 39th Syndicate meeting of Fatima Jinnah Medical University (FJMU) on Tuesday. Registrar University Prof Nadeem presented the contents of Syndicate agenda while the provincial minister ratified all the decisions of FJMU’s 38th Syndicate meeting.

Addressing the meeting, Khawaja Salman Rafique said that Government Teaching Hospital Shahdara has been directed to further improve the financial affairs of the nursing college. He also congratulated Fatima Jinnah Medical University for achieving QS ranking. During the Syndicate meeting, the Annual Procurement Plan of FJMU and Punjab Thalassemia and other genetic disorders institution for the year 2024-25 has been approved. The statement of accounts, including the revised budget of FJMU for the year 2023-24 and 2024-25 was also approved.

PEC ‘Practice Desk’ opens at UET

The inaugural ceremony for the establishment of the Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC) Pathway to Practice Desk took place at UET here on Tuesday. PEC Chairman Engr Waseem Nazir, along with UET Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Shahid Munir, inaugurated the desk. The establishment of the pathway to Practice Desk aims to strengthen the link between PEC and UET graduates. This will not only ease the registration process for engineers but also empower new graduates and help to create awareness in the engineering sector.

UET postpones convocation

UET Lahore has postponed its November 28 convocation due to unavoidable reasons. A UET spokesperson said the new date of the 31st convocation would be announced later. Meanwhile, the UET’s Alumni ceremony scheduled for November 29 has also been postponed. The new date for this ceremony would also be announced later, the spokesperson concluded.
