ISLAMABAD: Senate Chairman Yousuf Raza Gillani on Monday reached Saudi Arabia with a delegation for a five-day visit.
Upon arrival, the delegation was received by Saudi Shura Council Speaker Dr Abdullah bin Muhammad bin Ibrahim Al-Sheikh. Gillani reiterated that Pakistan and Saudi Arabia shared historical brotherly relations, and Pakistan had always been proud of its friendship with Saudi Arabia. According to the Senate Secretariat, he emphasized that the friendship between the two countries would only grow stronger with time.
Dr Abdullah conveyed a message from Prime Minister Crown Prince Mohammad bin Salman, stating: “I am the ambassador of Pakistan.” The invitation for the visit had been extended by Dr Abdullah. The visit aims at promoting bilateral relations and institutional cooperation. The delegation will hold meetings with the chairman of the Saudi Shura Council, the governor of Madinah and the governor of Riyadh. The delegation will also perform Umrah.
