LAHORE:Gulberg police Monday arrested the main suspect involved in the murder of a bank manager. According to SP Ikhlaq Tarar, accused Abdullah Shahid lured Ahsan Saleem, who was a manager at the Bank of Punjab, Gulberg branch, to Walton Road and abducted him and killed him over a monetary dispute. He disposed of his body in the canal near Harbanspura. The suspect was traced due to the Safe City surveillance footage.
10 ‘robbers’ arrested
Dolphin and Police Response Unit (PRU) squads Monday arrested 10 suspects involved in robbery and theft incidents and recovered four motorcycles, two cars, three mobile phones, and Rs14,000. Dolphin Squad also dismantled nine dacoit gangs, recovering 17 pistols, six rifles. One suspect was arrested after a police encounter. The squads nabbed 43 POs, 160 habitual criminals and 24 court fugitives while on patrol. They also arrested suspects involved in 19 cases of one-wheeling, five incidents of aerial firing, and those engaged in fireworks and kite flying. Meanwhile, Dolphin Force thwarted a purse-snatching attempt and arrested the suspect in the Quaid-i-Azam Industrial Estate area. According to the spokesperson, near Hamdard Chowk accused Shakeel was arrested red-handed while attempting to snatch a woman's purse.
3 member-gang busted
Gulshan Ravi police Monday arrested a three-member gang involved in robbery incidents and recovered goods worth Rs652,000 along with firearms and ammunition from the accused. According to SP Iqbal Town Bilal Ahmed, accused Haris, Shahzaib, and Abrar snatched Rs300,000 from a man who was carrying the cash from a bank. The SP lauded the police action.
Meanwhile, Shandara Investigation Police Monday arrested three accused, who were involved in the killing of a man and his two sons.Accused Ehsan, Usman, and Liaqat ambushed Muhammad Safdar and his sons Muhammad Yasir and Muhammad Nasir near Saggian Bridge while they were heading to the court for a hearing. The motive behind the killing was stated by the police as a family feud.
Four cops booked
Police Monday booked four constables on charges of kidnapping and taking bribe from a security guard. Azhar told police that he was kidnapped by cops Aqeel, Najaf, Sikandar, and Tanveer. He said the cops extorted Rs40,000 from his wife and also subjected him to torture.
